I don't even wanna think about how many hours I've sat here watching cartoons. Since Wednesday I've already watched:
Dominion Tank Police (1988 4-part OVA) Wicked City (1987 film) Demon City Shinjuku (1988 film) Birdy the Mighty (1996 4-part OVA) Birdy the Mighty Decode (2006 series, 13/25 episodes in)
I'd seen Akira, Fist of the North Star and Ninja Scroll not too long ago so I'm putting them off for now. Here's a link to the first Birdy episode. Should've watched them subbed though because Tsutomu's voice actor makes me want to kill myself.

NGE is still the best "mecha" (actually giant cyborgs in this case) series. I remember marathoning that show and the movies for the first time when I was in junior high. Almost died of fatigue on Justin's couch.
Yeah. I feel like part of it is lost on me in the sense that it's supposed to be a big meta deconstruction of Anime tropes, but since I was never really into animu it doesn't play as much for me in that aspect. It's pretty great though despite getting super weird and also being kind of inconsistent with it's narrative, though I know that was due to budget and studio issues.
Anime's seriously need to learn how to end though, and I don't mean that they go on too long or anything, I mean 99% of them don't have satisfactory endings. imo
